Abstract Gouache Greeting Card

Abstract Gouache Greeting Card

Hey there, Terri here! Today I am sharing an abstract Gouache greeting card.

I started by adding some teture paste to a piece of heavy weight watercolor card, I made sure to get some texutre to add intersted to the finished effect. I set this aside to allow it to dry thouroughly.

Once dry I added Gouache from Altenew's Artists Gouache Set. I added small amounts of each colour to a pallete and added a very small amount of water to loosen the paint. I then started adding rectangular strokes of paint in random areas. Initally I made sure no two colours touched, I allowed this inital layer to dry and then addded more colour to bridge the gaps, filling the entire background.

While the background dried I stamped out three sentimetns from the Bold Sentiments Stamp set and trimmed them to have a small white border.  I cut the painted panel to measure 3.75" by 5" and mounted it on to an A2 cardbase.  I then added the sentimetns using foam tape. Lastly I added a few Black Enamel dots from the New Day Enamel Dots set.

Gouache paint is similar to watercolour but has an opaque quality which can be used to create so may effects. I'm sure I'll be sharing more projects with these paints inthe future.
