Happy Birthdays

Happy Birthdays

Good morning! I’ve got a couple of birthday cards to share with you today – all made using products from My Favorite Things. I’ll start with a clean, simple and, I think, elegant birthday card.

I used MFT Happy Birthday Block die for this card. I cut a piece of white card 5” square and placed the die in the centre and cut out the letters. I layered the panel onto some gold patterned paper from my stash, edged it with a pink marker and adhered it flat to a white square notecard. I also die cut some pink and pale grey card. I used the inlaid-die technique to place some pink and grey letters into the panel on my card and left the others to show the gold background paper. I added shimmer to the pink and grey letters with a clear aqua shimmer brush.

On the inside, I cut another piece of gold design paper 5” square for the mat layer. I cut a piece of white card 4½” square so that I had a nice wide gold border. I stamped a fun birthday greeting from MFT Sassy Pants Birthday Greetings in black and added some decoration around the edge in pink and grey – the little triangles are from MFT Whimsical Greetings.

Next, I used nesting hexagon dies, like Waffle Flower’s Nesting Hexagon dies, to create a fun shaped birthday card. I used the largest die to cut a top folding hexagon card – making sure to have the top die cutting edge just off the card. I used the same die to cut a complete hexagon in white card and I used pink ink to stamp MFT’s Happy Birthday Background stamp onto the panel. I adhered this panel to the shaped notecard. Using smaller dies, I die cut turquoise and white card to make a panel for the centre of the card. On some scrap white card, I stamped the front facing peacock from MFT’s Playful Peacocks. I coloured the image with Copic markers and used the matching MFT dies Playful Peacocks to cut out the bird. I adhered it flat to the card. I finished the front of the card by stamping a pun greeting at the top of the white hexagon.

On the inside I used the smaller dies to cut a mat layer in turquoise and a white hexagon. On the white hexagon, I stamped one of the side-facing peacocks from MFT Playful Peacocks and coloured it with Copic markers. I stamped one of the fun greetings from Playful Peacocks to finish the inside.

That’s all from me today. Keep safe. See you next week.
