Slim is In!

Slim is In!

I'm late this weekend as I decided to prioritise chores over work for a change so here we are better late than never.

As you may have gathered by the number of brands producing slim card dies at the moment - slim or DL (double length) cards are the "in" thing at the moment  (handy as I still have a lot of DL bases from the last time they were fashionable!)    We've had lots of questions in our Facebook Forum about how to use the dies if you don't have the right sized bases so here are a couple I made using A4 card to show you how.

Firstly I used the largest die from the Slim Film City Die to create a slim bubble from cloudy patterned paper (Waffle Flower Special Delivery Paper Pad) which is a little wider than portrait A4 so I folded it in half along the longest side to create my card base.  I added a navy blue matt and then set about creating the centerpiece sentiment.

The sentiment was created with a couple of dies - Waffle Flower's Message Boards cut from white card and coloured rainbow style with copics.  The letters came from Tall Alphabet from Altenew but it is currently out of stock - will hopefully be back soon in our big delivery but we don't know what's in it til it gets here!  Happy and To You come from Bitty Birthday Wishes from MFT.

For the second card I wanted to do a slimmer card and play with the city dies.

This time I started with the stitched rectangle from Slim Card Basics in Navy and created a white base by folding an A4 sheet along the sortest length so it was just wider than the navy.   I die cut the city scape from the remaining white card and cut it into strips to fit just inside the stitched border.  I did the same with the cloud die from the basics set.  I coloured each differently using oxides and blending so we had 2 layers of clouds, 3 layers of buildings and one layer of bushes in the foreground.   Sentiment is again from Bitty Birthday Wishes.
