Ghost Bricks

Ghost Bricks

Hello & Happy Wednesday,

Today I am sharing a fun technique which I call ghosting. It works with both stamps and stencils, but I think it is much easier with stencils, like I have used today on my card.

I chose the Altenew Brick Rosette Builder Stencil Set. I started with the largest circles of bricks and offset the stencil so it overhung my Kraft card base. Securing it in place and masking down the edge (the stencil design is close to the edge of the stencil) I then inked through with white pigment ink. You want quite a good coating so that it stands out on the Kraft card base.

Next, lift the stencil and slightly rotate by a few millimetres. This time ink over the top with your chosen colours. Repeat the same process for the second stencil layer.

I happened to move my stencil so that  it created a seamless circle repeating white and colour. Move it less, I would have got more of a white drop shadow behind the coloured bricks. It’s a fun technique to add more versatility to your supplies with minimal materials.

I finished my card with the Avery Elle Big Birthday, a partial Happy stamp from Concord & 9th Delicate Blossoms and some white gloss drops. Have fun exploring this technique.

That’s all from me this week.
