I'm diving down under the sea for todays cards and celebrating with a couple of ocean critters from Avery Elles CelebRAYtion stamp set. I've used a couple of different backfrounds for these cards and the first is Concord&9th's Swirls dies which I have left joined together to make this 'all over' fabulous dots and dash pattern...

I mounted it onto a navy card base so the colour shows through the holes in the pattern then I simply added the coloured shark along with a speech bubble from Peek a Boo Pets and a seabed from Life is Good. I think I'll add 'have a Fintastic day' on the inside ;)

For the second card I used the wavy Swell backdrop from Avery Elle and embossed it in Satin Pearl powder on white card so I could blend blue distress inks over it and the waves stay white. This background has small boats dotted amongst the waves which I have snipped out as you may remember from a previous card I made here.... I replaced them with stars for this card...

The eagle eyed amongst you will have spotted my error in adhereing the background panel onto the card base upside down... but hey ho, I wasn't about to rip it apart just for that! I stamped the two Rays in grey ink and used markers to colour them and the colourless blender to add spots.

I really like the versatility of the wavy background minus the boats and as you can see it works in both orientations without them too :)
